How about that Clay Aiken???

OK, so there's been a change of plans:

I was able to catch the second half of Clay Aiken and his "Christmas in the Heartland" tour stop here in Poughkeepsie on Saturday, getting to the Mid-Hudson Civic Center right during intermission.

In short, the hour I was there for was an amazing hour of music! In just that hour, I decided Clay has the best voice of anyone I've ever seen in concert. Barry Manilow is the greatest overall performer and showman I've ever seen (you remember my GF and I are seeing him Monday night, right?) and is the total package on stage, and Britney Spears is the most beautiful singer I've ever seen in person, but Clay has the most singing ability of anyone I've seen ... and I've seen a lot!

I'll have more on the Poughkeepsie show later today (technically, it's already Sunday), once I've had some sleep.

I actually made it a point make it to tonight's show 'cause with treacherous weather forecast for the Northeast through Sunday night, I'm not going to be able to attend and review tonight's concert at the Mohegan Sun Arena.

Again, if you made it to the Civic Center tonight, feel free to e-mail me your thoughts and/or pics (along with your first name and hometown so I can give you credit) to journalsean@aol.com and I'll post some of them here on "Sean's Space!"

Sean,
I was there tonight and intend to take on the bad weather to Mohegan Sun (although, probably not too smart to do,)but I am thrilled that you made the effort to get there tonight. It says volumes about your integrity as a journalist and your dedication to your readers.
Clay, as always, was amazing. He is capable of even more than he gave this evening, as this was the very first time, he chose to honor the holiday completely and not banter with his audience. However, his talent does stand alone and the show was completely enjoyable, even in this very serious setting. I am sure Clay's fans will have plenty of great pics and video for you. Thank you again, for an awesome review.

Hi Sean,
What a fantastic review to wake up to. Glad to hear you enjoyed the concert. It is nice to read your write up. I love the Christmas concerts Clay puts on, and am sad that this season, I'm having to miss it. He truly has the most beautiful voice, just perfect for the spiritual meanings of Christmastime.
It is a beautifully directed concert. One that leaves a real good feeling inside of a person.
Thanks again, for all your articles this last week on Clay. They were great reading.

Good for you Sean, you are such a refreshing change in this world of journalists and bloggersm who don't actually review concerts etc but just try to be smart and shocking! I love all the different sides to Clay. his serious, reverant and comedic. Hope the weather isn't that bad and you can make it to the concert to Mohegan Sun as I was lookin forward to your review

Sean,
I saw this concert in Wichita and thought at the time how different it was from last year. However, this one is all about the season, and Clay can do the "crazy" after the holiday. Whichever way he presents a concert, the music is always first rate.

So glad to see you enjoyed the show! He truly does have the most amazing voice. And, I am glad to see him putting his faith and the birth of Christ front and center this year.

So, are you on your way to becoming a ClayDawg?

Sean,
What a wonderful review! Thank you so much for being so complimentary about Clay. He really has an amazing voice. So nice to see that people acknowledge that. Sorry you missed the entire show.

I hope someday you get to see a secular concert of Clay's. He really is the entire package of talent. Very entertaining and funny. HE chose to make this show more serious and about the music. So, not as much talking. But, if you ever see a show where Clay does talk and engage with the audience, you will see a man, who can entertain.

I am very pleased with your review of Clay. I have been unable to attend this tour live this year, but I am blown away by what I have seen.

Thank you again for all the nice things you say about Clay. I so appreciate your honesty.

Sean,
I hope your GF realizes what a catch you are. Journalistic integrity is no long in vogue, so its refreshing to see someone who appreciates good talent and is not afraid to say so when they see it. I can remember being made fun of by a DJ when I was a kid because I said I liked Barry Manilow and then there was a time when if you liked the Bee Gees you weren't cool. Well, guess what the joke's on those doing the dissing because they're no longer around and Barry and Bee Gees are still making music. Clay will be around for a long time, too, because he has talent. I went to a concert last night of a grammy nominated group, winners of an AMA award and although they were all good singers and I tried not to compare but they sang some of the same Christmas songs as Clay does and nice job they did, but honestly it made me realize what a beautiful voice and delivery Clay has. His voice is truly astonishing.
