I'm joining the "Soul Patrol!"

So in an earlier post, I mentioned how I wasn't sure if Taylor Hicks, the guy who won Season 5 of "American Idol," would be able to fill our meager Mid-Hudson Civic Center.

Well ... I know at least two people who will be there!

Yes, even before the tickets went on sale, I managed to snag a pair of seats close to the stage. (At least no one will get thrown off the stage at this concert!)

Hey, if the tix are the right price, I'll see just about any musical act once (well ... maybe not Akon!) so I jumped at the opportunity for these.

With more than 2 months til the August 16th show, I'm enrolling for membership in Taylor's "Soul Patrol!"

After listening the debut CD from "AI" runner-up Bo Bice for almost two weeks straight in anticipation of his show at The Chance, I thoroughly enjoyed Bo's acoustic set and I'm hoping for the same with Taylor.

I've already heard from some readers about how great Taylor is in concert, but now I need even more help: Where can I download his songs? What songs does he play at his shows? Any chance Caroline Lyders will be on hand? (As new as I am to Taylor and his music, even I know about her!)

Help me out, fellow "Soul Patrol"-ers!

Changing the world one person at a time! haha. j/k. I wouldn't call myself a "soul patroler" but do like him and his music.

There's tons of sits out there that you can download most anything. I'm partial to the "boogie board" I think this is the link

(hope it works)

Good luck to you.

Whomp Radio plays Taylor's music on internet radio. It is a legitimate station.
Music is from his older gigs prior to American Idol, recent gigs, and some CD tracks.

Go to www.whompswamp.com to find this station.

You are going to love Taylor's show! Do try to "read up" on some of the set lists from previous shows (Boogie Board has a thread with all of them) because he "tags" bits from other songs into the one he's singing, and it's even more fun if you can follow along with what he's doing! He does it so seamlessly, that sometimes people aren't sure what's going on - when all of a sudden, the original tune is back again! (Note: One of Taylor's tags just happens to be Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On?")

Wear your dancin' shoes, and be prepared to be blown away!

YouTube will more than fulfill your needs to see Taylor singing and dancing to just about anything. But it still will not tell you which Taylor you will see at your concert. Prepare to want more.

I highly recommend the post-Idol videos on youtube. Search for "Taylor Hicks Best of Boogie" and you'll get some of the finest moments of his spring solo tour. The guy is amazing on stage and changes his setlist every night so ya never know what you're getting.

When I think of how stressful it was to get tickets to see Taylor at Foxwoods, it's almost funny to read your thoughts on him not filling up your venue.

Most of the shows in Taylor's winter concert tour were sold out - and the size of the venues varied, but some were over 3,000 seats. If you go to concertfan.com, you can read some recaps for specific concerts. I honestly haven't read a bad review (with the exception of a few media people, and they weren't even what I'd consider bad.) The Boston Herald critic (who was not a Hicks' fan going in) gave his sold out Avalon show a great review. What a performance that was!

I like Bo Bice, but honestly, Taylor is a far superior performer.

Hi,

tay-onlime.com will fill your needs with concert schedules, past, present music and some back when he was a mere 19 years -old. Great site with no fan interaction (chat/blog). Highly recommend this site. Has links to YouTube and GoFish. (Check out Hal The Camera for A bit of Taylor humor on YouTube). Enjoy.

btw: one tay concert is not enough...like potato chips...each one is unique and you can't enjoy just one.

The only one jumping off stage might be taylor to give away a harmonica to a fan.

I'll be there too with three other people. Taylor puts on a great show, you won't be disappointed. You should have seen him at the Beacon; it was phenomenal. I'll be looking out for you up front, just to see your reaction. If you're not on your feet dancing and clapping, there's something wrong with you. lol You're going to be amazed at the energy he creates.

Be prepared to get "whomped"! You will leave Taylor's concert wondering what happened to you! He puts on an amazingly powerful live performance.
Couldn't tell you about the GF part. I'm always too busy watching Taylor. I don't care who else is actually there; for one hour and 20 minutes, it's just Taylor singing to me!

Sean, buddy, media co-worker....I feel sorry for ya...You'll have more fun at the circus then watching and listening to a Michael McDonald wannabe! Stick to the classic rock you listen to on the weekend

It's a shame that Jack who posted right above this post has not had the pleasure of a Taylor Hicks concert.

You Tube--search for "Taylor Hicks Best of Boogie" --check out "Sweet Home Chicago" to wet your appetite for the concert.

Have a great time!
