The New Kids ARE getting back together!!!

I got an e-mail last night directly from the New Kids On The Block's people, saying that Jordan, Jonathan, Joe, Danny and Donnie will be on NBC's "Today" show in Rockefeller Plaza on Friday morning!!!

This will be the first time they'll all been on the same stage since the spring of 1994, and I'm soooo psyched! As I wrote in a previous post, while the New Kids were my fav group of all-time, I never got to see any of them in person ... even when they did their solo projects.

That all changes Friday morning!!!

I'm not sure what they're going to sing, but earlier today, I watched four short videos, each showing different combination of New Kids relaxing in a recording studio, so something is in the works!

As you can see, the Kids have changed their logo (it's not that red one they used back in the day with all the cooky-looking letters, like that mis-shaped "O") but it looks like they're going back to the New Kids on the Block moniker after "growing up" to that horrible NKOTB acronym that accompanied their ill-fated final album.

The show starts at 7 a.m. and runs through 9, but I'm sure the die-hards will be there long before then. If you go to the New Kids' Web site, they're running a count-down clock until the show stars.

So be sure to look for me hanging out with the New Kids Friday morning!!!

My loyalty lies with New Kids. As a first-grader, my fist audio cassette was Meatloaf's Bat Out of Hell and my second was Hangin' Tough.

As a junior in high school, I went to see Jordan Knight at TRL and went to a Joey McIntyre concert in Boston with my best friend since childhood.

Now, at the age of 24, this is one of the greatest reunions of the century. It's more than a boy band. It's a revival of my childhood and first love of music.

You know, I didn't like them the first time around, and I'm fairly certain I won't like them the second time around. It's particularly strange to imagine them getting older (not so much with the "New" anymore, are we guys?) and eventually plaing Las Vegas lounges as our generation ages.

Having said all that - enjoy the show! I hope they are still "Hangin' Tough"... whooooaaahooooahhhooooahooo.
