If you could ask Taylor Hicks a question, what would you ask?
What's your favorite color? What's your favorite number?
If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be?
Well, here's your chance!
I’ve been working with some inside contacts, and I’ll be interviewing Taylor Hicks (probably next week) in anticipation of his August 16th concert at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center.
Here’s where you come in…
If you have a question you’d like me to ask Taylor Hicks, e-mail me at seantm102@aol.com and submit your name, hometown and question.
I’ll pick one question to ask Taylor when I talk to him next week, and then I’ll post that question and Taylor’s answer back here after our chat.

I know the "if it's broke, don't fix it" phrase but everyone can benefit from some coaching sometimes when we can afford it. My question for Taylor is "Would you consider seeking vocal/musical coaching during your down time while you're writing just to hone your already fantastic musical abilities or are you totally comfortable where you are in that regard?"
sorry, the above comment is from me. JasperHicksFan, Jasper, AL
I was just wondering if Taylor would ever go back to college and finish school, if so, is he going back to Auburn University again, and which course?

Questions NOT to ask (i.e. which will reveal a total lack of interest in music and in your interview subject, or which have simply been asked to death):
- ANY question that includes the term American Idol, Simon Cowel, or Paula Abdul. But especially not: What was going through your mind the moment you won American Idol?
- Where did the term "Soul Patrol" come from?
- Where are you living these days?
- Any question about his love life: Are you single? Do you have a girlfriend? Is it this person? Is it serious? Would you like to settle down some day.
Idea: ask the man about MUSIC.
Thanks Sean-- Here you go!
From a friend first: Taylor, will you test out some new original songs for your next album in live performances before recording?
Then, following up on that, can you tell us more about this so-called "Fall Acoustic Tour"?:
Many of your serious fans in California, (who missed you during this current 'summer tour'), are VERY much hoping that you'll do some gigs in small venues (like the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, where you saw your friends, Drive By Truckers, on May 8th...)
What about that possibility??
Finally, folks are really looking forward to the release of your "LIVE AT THE WARFIELD, SAN FRANCISCO 2007" DVD. Can you give us a scoop when it will be released?
In Taylor-world, what does "soon" mean?
P.S. Since you're a sportswriter, Sean, you and Taylor could talk sports for hours! fyi- He used to play basketball, and is a major sports fan...
Will we ever have the opportunity to hear any of the songs you wrote while you were living in Nashville? From the sound of it, it seems there just might be a magical song stored away somewhere just waiting to be rescued.
Taylor, when you see someone in the audience at your shows not dancing, whether they're able to or not, does that upset you? Do you think they're enjoying the show any more or less than the next person?
One more time! Re: the first post(mine)! Correction-"If it's NOT broke, don't fix it!". Sorry:(
Taylor, your book Heart Full of Soul shows us that you never know how far you can go if you don't try ...I'd like to know if your record label has any plans to try releasing your singles (already released ones, or others off your cd) to Top 40 radio. That radio format has the most listeners and can make the most difference with charts, sales, etc. The label will never know if your singles are Top 40 friendly unless they try promoting them there.
If they don't plan to release to Top 40 from the current cd, are there plans to reach that format with future releases?
Thanks Taylor!
This is a great idea, Sean. It shows that you're not planning to ask the same old boring questions Taylor's been asked a million and one times and then diss him for being unenthusiastic. Taylor gives really interesting interviews when the interviewer has done his/her homework. I can see that you're preparing already. Bravo!
Have you considered releasing a "live CD" of one of your shows? Or perhaps an accompanying live CD with the DVD that's being released in the fall?

Where you able to see the presentation on the 2007 Espy Awards for Best Sports Moment in which your first single from the Taylor Hicks CD "Just To Feel That Way" was the background music for the nominees? Do you feel a connection considering the winner of the "Best Sports Moment" was "New Orleans Saints Return Home" and your journey towards American Idol actually started when you fled Hurricane Katrina?
Sean... check out my blog and my interview with Taylor:

Maybe that might help you with a direction. Keep it 'all about the music' and you'll do just fine.
Taylor is a fun, insightful man with many layers. Do not dismiss him simply as a one dimensional American Idol winner - he's an amazing artist which you'll most certainly discover when you speak with him.
Since August 16 is the anniversary of Elvis' death-here's my question--if you were to include an Elvis tribute medley in your show--besides "Jailhouse Rock" and "In the Ghetto" what other Elvis songs would you sing?
Why is everyone writing their question here?
"If you have a question you’d like me to ask Taylor Hicks, e-mail me at seantm102@aol.com and submit your name, hometown and question."
Dear Taylor,
Can I take my picture with you? I need to be on the left. You wouldn't understand.

I wrote my questions/comments here AND emailed them to Sean... it's interesting to read other people's questions too!
Hey there Taylor! Please have your guys put on their 'Listening Ears'! We are 'chompin at the bit' for your return to the NorthWest; especially since there is talk about an 'Acoustical' tour in the fall. So, how about it? Seattle, Portland, Spokane, Yakima ~ heck, even Walla Walla!!! How about it? (Is he listening Sean?):~)
Dear Taylor,
What do you like to read?
